The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party (2011)
Well, the cover on my copy of this book reveals the wedding is Mma Makutsi's much awaited nuptial event. And despite Violet Sephotho being seen off in no uncertain terms two books ago in this series, as she attempted to steal Mma Makutsi's fiance Phuti Radiputhi from under Mma Makutsi's nose, the terrible but extremely sexy Violet has found yet another way to get up that that very nose. She's standing for parliament. Poor Botswana.
And do little white vans have ghosts? It seems so, as both Mma Makutsi and Mma Ramotswe spot one. And it causes poor Mma Makutsi to ruin part of her wedding rig. And the part of that rig that means most to her.
But in the midst of all this, Mma Ramotswe has to try and sort out the puzzling deaths of some of Rra Moeti's unfortunate cattle. Making things really difficult is the fact that Rra Moeti is such an unpleasant and easily disliked man. And the fact that Rra Moeti is convinced his neighbour, the nice Rra Seleo is responsible. But Mma Ramotswe, in her turn, becomes convinced someone else is responsible, but if he tells her client the truth that someone else will get ino serious trouble and his mother, a long-suffering single parent, will lose her job. Should she lie to her client?
And so to Charlie. He's been having it away with the inaptly named Prudence Ramkhwane, Prudence has produced twins, and Charlie refuses to have anything to do with either Prudence or the twins. The denizens of the garage and detective office are all appalled, and try to persuade Charlie to "do the right thing". But Charlie runs away. Is this another one where truth will find a way?
